To the person who will become a founder
If you've studied poker seriously, you know this. Charts are everywhere, and solvers give you answers down to the decimal. But why that answer is right, and what you missed in the hand you just played, you still have to figure out alone. There's a lot to study, and no one to study it with.
When solvers first came out, poker study changed. The judgment that used to rest on feel now had a benchmark. But solvers are not intuitive, they are expensive, and they are precise to a degree that is useless to most players. The frequencies a solver outputs cannot be copied straight to the table, and the opponent in front of you does not play like a solver. A solver is not the right study tool for most people.
What changes your game is not a single answer but the order you reach it in. Understand a concept, use it to plan the hand, watch where the opponent deviates and exploit that, then apply it to the spot you are in now. The process that takes you from the big-picture strategy (the blueprint) down to the branch you are actually on (the subtree) is not yet handled by any product.
We believe AI can fill that gap. Beyond a tool that shows answers, it becomes a partner that looks at hands with you, asks you why you made a play, and points out where your thinking diverged.
The poker mindset we believe in is simple. Think once more before you press the button, review hands after they end, and say so when you do not know something. That is where the name Slowplay comes from. We believe judgment built slowly lasts longer than an answer memorized quickly.
So the goal is clear too. When someone says they are studying poker, opening Slowplay should be the obvious thing to do. We plan to spend 10 years on this work until studying poker without Slowplay feels strange.
To be honest, Slowplay is still small. Many features are missing, and we fix things every week. That is why we set aside the first 1,000 seats separately. It is because this direction needs people who believe in it early for it to last.
As a founder, you will get new features first, and you will decide together with us what to build in the channel where we talk directly. We will make sure the founders' voices shape where this product goes.
Poker is a game that takes a long time. So does studying it, and so does building a good tool. We are waiting for people who will walk that time with us.
